As you all know by now on January 12, 2010 Haiti was struck by an overwhelming earthquake. The devastation has been widespread and since the initial 7.0 earthquake there have been many aftershocks hitting an already distressed and panicked country.
South Palm Community Church has been and will remain committed to making a difference here and around the world. You may already know that we have established a partnership with a Relief Organization called Thirst No more. They are on the ground in Haiti, helping with medical supplies, food, and other basic needs.
Also, on January 28, 2010 a team from South Palm Community Church traveled to Haiti with medical supplies, tents, food and loving hearts to try and help the people of Haiti by meeting the basic needs of life and through sharing the loving message of Jesus Christ
How can you help?
- Pray: Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti. If has been almost two weeks since the quake and it will be easier, as time passes, to let the devastation slip from your mind. We must be intentional more now, than ever, with our commitment to prayer. Here are some specific needs to pray for:
- The people in charge for wisdom and discernment as decisions will be made quickly and anxiously
- The people of Haiti, for safety, patience and the basic needs of life
- The South Palm Relief team and other missions and relief teams that are on the ground in Haiti
- Donate: Thirst No More has told us that the most immediate need now that we are more than two weeks out is SHELTER. We are told that the best way to provide this shelter is by donating tents or money for tents! Our church responded in such a tremendous way through Primary Assistance Kits (PAKs) THANK YOU. Now we are asking that you continue to give. Thank you in advance for showing the love of Jesus through giving to the nation Haiti.
